These two volumes will provide a comprehensive overview of turbulence: theory, modeling, numerical simulation, and experimental results. They will include much material so far available only in technical journals, including Hamiltonian and Lagrangian representations, probability distribution functions, equilibrium statistical mechanics, specialized models for intermittency, a rigorous development of renormalized perturbation theory, a comprehensive discussion of Markovian closures, recursive renormalization, adaptive numerical methods, and wavelet methods. Applications and examples include turbulence in compressible fluids, in convection, in magnetohydrodynamics, in geophysics, and in astrophysics.
