O knihe:

"The technical, institutional, and socioeconomic implications of soil and groundwater remediation in Central and Eastern Europe are serious. Finance is a problem; ownership of the contaminated land complicates the issue. Geopolitical issues, such as membership of the EU, may provide a spur to current efforts. But the magnitude of the problem means that the number of sites needing remediation will for a long time to come exceed the finance available. Furthermore, any financial support given must be allocated in such a way as to ensure that the budget has been efficiently utilised for the planned purpose. According to this workshop, prioritisation of site remediation must be established on the basis of human health problems. Support must be provided for the assessment of assessment processes, such as mathematical modelling, risk analysis and software development. Part I of the book contains introductory comments, summarising the overall problem, discussing the intricacies of creating institutions and an effective socioeconomic infrastructure. Part II contains country reports detailing the existing situation in various countries. Part III indicates the characteristics and advantages/disadvantages of various remediation technologies, and Part IV presents a series of case studies and some summary comments on the possible courses of action to address future challenges in Central and Eastern Europe."
