The aim of the present monograph is to point to the broad extent of current knowledge being achieved in photochemistry of coordination compounds emphasizing to chemical aspects of photoprocesses. The intent of the book is to present all known types of the photochemical behaviour of complexes rather than comprehensively document all the relevant literature. The subject, divided into six chapters, is elaborated so as to correspond with the individual processes in the sequence of a photochemical reaction. In accordance with this the modes of formation and properties of electronically excited complexes (Chapter 2) and their photophysical deactivation (Chapter 3) are discussed. The main and most comprehensive part of the book is Chapter 4 in which photochemical reactions are classified and discussed, and the rules of photochemical reactivity of complexes are presented. For the first time also the aspects of practical utilization in this field are discussed (Chapter 5). Chapter 6 concludes the monograph with general remarks and prospectives of the development of photochemistry of coordination compounds.
