Within the framework of the seemingly homogenous architecture of Vorarlberg that has achieved international recognition over the last decade, the buildings of Helmut Dietrich and Much Untertrifaller attract notice for several reasons: they possess a subtle architectonic and urban quality, show no particular preference for any particular building material and relate to their urban and natural surroundings. Meticulous conception and a sensitive feeling for material are the hall-marks of their interior design. The numerous buildings, whose quality has often been acknowledged and which have on many occasions been granted an award, are carefully presented by means of photos, plans and texts. Specific themes are treated seperately in the form of detailed comparative analyses, and an introductory essay puts the work of the two into a supraregional and temporal context.
